The AI experience
How did our cohort feel about being interviewed by AI compared to a real-life person? Are there any advantages or disadvantages that stood out to them?
A surprisingly natural experience
Many participants were pleasantly surprised by how smooth and intuitive the AI-led interviews felt. Initial curiosity or apprehension quickly gave way to comfort as the process unfolded.
“I actually forgot it was an AI after a while — it felt quite natural, really.”
The absence of small talk or interruptions was appreciated by several respondents, who felt it gave them space to express themselves freely and at their own pace.
Neutral, non-judgmental and easy to talk to
Participants frequently noted that speaking to AI felt non-judgmental and unbiased. Without the presence of a human interviewer, they felt more comfortable expressing personal views or experiences without fear of being misread.
“It was easier in some ways - you don’t feel you’re being judged or analysed.”
This sense of neutrality helped build a kind of trust in the process, especially for those who value privacy or feel more introverted in typical face-to-face settings.
Clarity and simplicity
The structured format and clear flow of the AI interview process were consistently praised. Participants highlighted how straightforward the experience was, especially compared to more meandering or emotionally complex human-led discussions.
“It was very focused. I always knew what the question was and could think clearly.”
The AI was seen as efficient and consistent, helping people stay on track and feel confident in their responses.
Openness to Future Use
Most respondents said they would be happy to participate in another AI-led interview, especially for topics they care about or where speed and efficiency matter.
“Yes, I’d definitely do it again — it just worked.”
Some even suggested AI could play a growing role in interviews or surveys, particularly as comfort with technology continues to grow among this cohort.
“I can see this becoming more normal. It’s not scary - just a different way of doing things.”
