Our partnership with Birchgrove revealed what truly matters to residents and staff - shaping smarter decisions and stronger community bonds.
Birchgrove invited Boomer + beyond to lead a series of resident and staff satisfaction studies across two of its communities - Queensgate and Woodbank - over a three-year period.
Our work included not just residents, but also their families and frontline staff, using qualitative interviews to explore real-life experiences in detail. Beginning in 2021 via Zoom due to lockdown, and continuing face-to-face in 2022, our approach combined rigour with warmth and empathy.
The staff are so brilliant here, I couldn’t fault any of them. They try so hard and nothing is too much bother.”
Neighbour (Woodbank)
The findings offered Birchgrove clear, practical opportunities to enhance resident wellbeing, deepen staff satisfaction, and refine their messaging to prospective residents. CEO Honor Barratt praised the process as “fun, respectful and reflective” for residents, and valued our role in delivering both joyful affirmations and the “trickier” truths. With each wave, our work helped Birchgrove strengthen its sense of community and continue delivering on its mission to support independent, vibrant later living.
One of the main things I like is the sense of security, you wouldn’t get that anywhere else and especially during COVID.”
Neighbour (Queensgate)
Jonty, with his excellent Boomer colleagues, has run the last three years of resident satisfaction surveys for us. We trusted them with our most precious possessions – our neighbours. For them, they made the process fun, respectful, reflective and each of our neighbours thoroughly enjoyed their time with Jonty.
For us as the client, this qualitative process gave us some hugely powerful insights that have allowed us to, each year, improve both our marketing to prospects and our relationships with them once they become our treasured neighbours.
But with the trickier messaging that we had to hear, Jonty was both measured but firm – there were insights in his research that were uncomfortable but needed to be heard. The Boomer team didn’t just abandon us with this feedback, but gently pushed forward possible solutions to address the issues.
Working with Boomer + beyond has been such a joy, I look forward to it every year.”
